GraphicsDev.net is desgined around the idea of sharing information and collaboratively researching/developing (with tools to publish your findings!). This is a basic introduction to the sites features and usages.
You share information with people by creating various types of site content (primarily: Blogs, Books, Forums, Projects, Stories and Wiki Pages). The content type you choose depends on the specific information you're trying to share and who you would like to share with.
You can also join (or create) a Group to control access to your content. A group is essentially your very own sub-community with it's own members and it's own private content. Within a group you still share information by creating content (you can create any of the aforementioned content types), but you have the option of publishing that information privately (so only Group Subscribers) can access your content.
One of the most exciting collaborative content types is the Project. Projects enable you to collaboratively work on real development projects in an effective manner. Features include SVN Integration, Task management, Bug tracking and Feature requests all through our convenient web portal.
